Show Mexican Embassador Is Called Hence Senor Aspiroz Passes Away at the Mexican Embassy in "Washington. "Wash-ington. WASHINGTON, March 21. Senor Don Manuel do Aspiroz, Mexico's first Embassador Embas-sador to the United States, died lato this afternoon nt the Mexican embassy, surrounded sur-rounded by members of hla family, aged Of' years. Although a slek man since Inst fall, the limbassador's death was due to a relapso caused by exposure on Inauguration Inaugu-ration day. Against tnc advice of his physicians, Senor Aspiroz left his sick rcom and attended tho Inaugural ceremonies cere-monies at the Capitol, where he came near fainting. For many years the Em-brf-sador has suffered from gastritis and lhls weakened his heart. His death this afternoon was unaccompanied by suffering. suf-fering. "Was Gallant Soldier. Enters Diplomatic Service. - When the revolution of Tuxtepec. under Gen. Diaz, overthrew the existing Government, Govern-ment, Col. Aspiroz retired to private life. In May, 1S00. he became Aslsst;int Secretary Secre-tary of the Ministry of Foreign Relations and held thai position until his appointment appoint-ment of First Mexican Embassador to the Un I led States. As-piroz. through his connection with tho court-martial of Maximilian, was In part' responsible for Maximilian's execution, and during the early days pf the service of Senor Aspiroz at Washington this fact proved of keen embarrassment to himself und the Austrian representative. Embarrassing Incident. Finally It was arranged that when brought together at otllclal functions, these two diplomats should exchange formal greetings. This, however, was not until an embarrassing Incident hail oe curred at the White House during the administration ad-ministration of President McKinlev. when the Mexican Embassador was assigned to escort to the dining-room the wife of tho Austrian Embassador and the latter felt compelled lo decline. Leaves Widow and Children. Tho Embassador Is survived by a widow and two daughters and his son, second secretary of the embassy.
