Tho annual convention conven-tion of tho AVoman'8 Christian Tompor-anco Tompor-anco union convened ut Uia Pr6sbyterhtn church today. The first day's hossIoh consisted con-sisted mainly of preliminary organization work nnd in listening to addresses and tho appointment of committees. Mrw. J. S. Cordon, president of tho association, as-sociation, delivered tno address of welcome. wel-come. Tho convention also listened to an address by Rev. Peter A. Slmpkln of Salt Lake City. Tho attendance is good, delegates being proacnt from moso of tho principal cities of the, State. Tho convention conven-tion will hold two sessions tomorrow, at which the regular business will bo disposed dis-posed of and ofllcers elected. Tho Goddard divorce case was up for trial beforo Judgo Rolupp today on motion mo-tion of Mrs. Goddard to modify tho decree de-cree and glvo her tho custody of tho child without limitations. The decree granted upon the original hearing of tho caso compelled her to keep the child within tho State. This portion of the decreo she asks to have nullified. The Board of Education held a short session tonight. Tho Treasurer reported having received JS000 on 10M taxes and also that tho noto of JGCO duo tho First National bank had been paid. With tho approach of wlntor, the holdups hold-ups and footpads havo begun their harvest, har-vest, and reports aro coming In of dally robberies on incoming Southern Paclllo trains. About a year ago hardly a day parsed but that somo ono was held up and robbod on a Southern Paclllc train between Ogden and Corlnne. "Williams wero held up on Lincoln nvenuo by two men who held guns on them while Mr. Williams was robbed of $30 in cash. Later Will Cook was held up between Twenty-third and Twenty-second Htrcets and robbed of all ho had a pocket knife.
