Show A GENTLE MANNER. If the Deseret News is really desirous desir-ous of showing how overflowing with the milk of human kindness Is the president pres-ident of the church, It might give an accurate description of his manner when he hissed at the Sennte Committee Commit-tee on Privileges and Elections as he sat writhing In the witness chair. It will be recalled that one of the Senators had propounded to him some rather pertinent, and certainly necessary, neces-sary, questions concerning the marital relations of several of his immediate frlqnds and subordinate ecclcslasts. The rage with which he said, through clenched teeth, that he was neither a spy nor an Informer, was such a demonstration dem-onstration of his kind of gentleness and unbltterness toward his fellowmen that the particular Senator who hod made the Inquiries did not care to continue con-tinue in attendance at the sessions, but made up his mind then and there as to the sanctity of the church leadership as represented by the tender Christian manner of President Smith. |
