Show Mother's Irave Ad , Saves Her Baby Pushes Little One Out of Danger and Is Struck by Runaway Horse. PHILADELPHIA, June 21. Entirely unmindful of herself and thinking only of her baby, Mrs. Linda Hlg-glns Hlg-glns yesterday stood in front of a runaway horse at Fifteenth and Thompson streets and waited for It to knock her down. Mrs. Hlgglns, who Is young and pretty, lives at 1253 Burns street. She was trundling the baby her first In a go-cart. As she started across Fifteenth street a horse attached to a Kayser & Allman delivery wagon came dashing toward her. She did not see It until it was loo late to turn back, but she gave the go-cart a shove and then stood stock sill, facing the horse, thinking in her confusion that the horse was determined upon trampling her baby and that It would be necessary to distract Its attention. The horse paid no attention to mother or child, swerving neither to the right nor to the left. It struck Mrs. Hlgglns with Its hoofs and sent her rolling- In the street. She was picked up unconscious uncon-scious and sent to St. Joseph's hospital. The doctors there say her condition Is not critical. Her head Is cut in several places and she has four or five ribs broken, but they think there Is no doubt of her recovery. |
