Show Community Celebration Date Set September 19 and 20 The world-famous mining community, com-munity, Bingham Canyon, will celebrate its nationally-recognized holiday, Galena Days, this year on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, it was announced an-nounced following the semimonthly semi-monthly junior chamber of commerce com-merce meeting Monday evening in the Masonic hall. The group came to an unanimous unani-mous decision following a report of a committee which had contacted con-tacted a large number of local residents. Dale Johnston, general chairman chair-man of Galena Days, named the following Jaycee members in charge of general committees: Elliott W. Evans, finance; Robert Jimas, Miss Galena arrangements; arrange-ments; Parker Gray, entertainment; entertain-ment; Leland G. Burress, publicity; publi-city; Joel P. Jensen, parade; Harold Har-old Barton, Old Timers banquet, museum, registration; Elmo A. Nelson, concessions. The celebration this year will commence Friday evening and will continue through Saturday evening. In the past two years the celebration has begun the morning of the first day. The program for Utah s unique celebration will be announced in the near future. Many cash a-wards a-wards will be given this year. As in the past, Galena Days will again be staged in honor of those Bingham Old Timers and mining men who have made this community of vital importance to the state of Utah as a metal wealth producing center. Reports on recent projects given giv-en at the meeting included: on the Fourth of July float, Parker Gray;, financial report on the Carnival dance in May, Robert Jimas; Galena Days plans. Dale Johnston; trip to Richfield for the traveling trophy, Inglis Wet-more. Wet-more. A ladies night outing In Dry Fork canyon was decided upon for Monday evening, July 28. Inglis Wetmore will be in charge of arrangements and will be as-sited as-sited by Ken Shulsen and Howard How-ard Buchman. The Jaycees voted not to enter en-ter their Fourth of July float in the Covered Wagon Days parade pa-rade in Salt Lake Citv this vear. |
