Show I BADLY HURT BY HORSE John Williams lilpkod in the Head Displayed Wonderful Nerve While Wounds Woro Dressed v J John Williams brother of Officer Jim Williams was kicked In the head by a freshlyshod horse and rendered unconscious un-conscious In which state he remained for about an hour and a half last night In the stable owned by W Ilarman 57 North Seventh West The accident occurred about S oclock as Williams who Is employed aga teamster wan feeding his horses In the darkened stable Ho had been < cleaning about the stall of one of the animals and fell frightening the beast which kicked backward and Williams being unable to regain his balance quickly was struck In the face one of the corks on the horses shoe being driven In above Wllllamss left eye shattering the bone there and severely fracturing the skull He also sustained a scvortS gash In tho left I cheek that laid bare the bone and his body was badly bruised In the fall Williams stated last night that he was unable to tell how long he lay unconscious un-conscious the last thing he remom bored being that ho said Whoa to the horso because of Its nervous shifting shift-Ing In tho stall Ho was found by his employer Mr Harman late In Inc i night and when he had recovered sulll Clently he gamely walked uptown and summoned Dr Benedict who dressed lie wounds It was found necessary to take several stitches to close up the gashes In the mans face and It Is thought very probable that he will lose the sight of the Injured eye No ana a thetic was administered to the Injured man and he stood tho ordeal with ro markable nerve Jestingly remarking that he was sorry he had not tho power pow-er to stand the abuse like hIs fighting brother Many small pieces of the shattered bone were removed from the man and his only expression of pain was tho drawing of his breath through hlu teeth as the little needle was forced In and out of the deep wound over the eye eyeMr Mr Harman looked on at the operation opera-tion for awhile last night but finally found that the sight of Wllllamss suffering suf-fering was too much for him and he lay down upon a couch saying he was too weak to stand When the wounds had been cared for Wllllama sturdily t arose and walked homo to his wife and family who live at 119 North Seventh West t |
