Show LOST IN THE THEATER Adventures of One Man Who Saw Florodora LOCKED UP IN BUILDING Rescued From His Prison by Police Officers I Brigham Street Citizen Sponds One Evening That He Will Not Soon Forget I John Doc will suffice for his name for he wouldnt give his real cognomen to the police officers though they followed him to his home on Brigham street They know his address however and vow that they will learn his true name and have It published to the world He went to see Florotlora Friday night at the Salt Lake Theater but instead In-stead of seeing only his moneys worth he saw three characters for every one 1 that appeared on the stage He was frightfully drunk so drunk in fact i that he has no recollection of how he reached the Theater or tho nature of the play He has n vivid recollection however of the manner of his escape from the playhouse On entering the Theater he secured a seat In the balcany He saw an actor act-or two then fell into a drunken stupor The play went on until the end The people left and still he slept The janitors and other attaches of the building build-ing made a cursory tour oC the Theater before turning out the lights Having Hav-ing fallen into a heap and crouched in his seat he escaped the notice of the I men who left the building In darkness Finally he woke He reached out to pull the cover over him and realized that he wasnt at home in his own little lit-tle bed He groped about him In the darkness and tried to strike a light Nothing was familiar and he could touch nothing except hard cold Beats and the floor And such a headache He at last rose from his uncomfortable uncomfort-able position and started through the darkness Stumbling and bumping his shins against the iron seats he worked his way through the great building and at last reached tho conclusion con-clusion that ho was alone and all alone In a vast playhouse Police Officers Leaker and Gulbran son happened to meet at State and First South streets shortly after fi oclock yesterday morning After making their rounds they stopped on the corner and were talking of the happenings of the night Subdued hoarse cries for help tmd ot lire and murder suddenly aroused I their attention The cries came from the Salt Lake Theater and investigation I investi-gation revealed the fact that a man was locked In the building Securing a ladder lad-der from a drug store on the opposite corner they raised it to a secondstory window and assisted the man to reach I the ground Then he told the story ot how he had gone to see Florodora while drunk and falling asleep had been locked up Well we are pretty tired old man suppose you carry that ladder back to the place where we got it said one of the officers Oh no he replied 1 am weak and tired too but I will fix you both all right If you take it back The ladder was returned while tbi man waited on the corner for the two policemen On their return he Invited thom fr 11 nnlnnn nrnvhv I Give them what they want theyre good fellows he said to the man behind be-hind the bar as he tossed a dime down on the counter Im In something of a hurry and must get home so goodbye |
