Show STATE STREETS P09R PAVING Board of Public Works Not Satisfied With the Work of tho StreetCar Street-Car Company The unsatisfactory condition of the new paving on upper State street was taken up at the meeting of the Board of Public Works yesterday afternoon There Is no fault being found with the paving proper which is being done by P J Moran but the block work of the street railway company com-pany In the center of the street has not been done In a workmanlike manner These blocks have not been put down solidly mid have been displaced by cross ing teams tearing up the pavncnt where the rocks and tho cement join Mirau has been stopped In his work and will bo put to considerable expense by delay un leis something Is done On motion of City Engineer Kclscy It was unanimously deckled de-ckled by the board to have the chairman Instruct the street car company to put the blocks down solidly unit upon their refusal to have tho wonc done by other parties and send the bill In to tho railway company Tho srrget Is narrow above South Torn ple any was originally decided by the Board of Public Works to have no block ing In tho center of the street but to have the entire width between the tracks and all paved with asphaltum This however did not suit the railway people and the City Council stood by them m declining to pave between their track Tho board approved the specifications or contracts for JD01 I the work being forever for-ever vmtor main and sidewalk extensions exten-sions and for the paving of First South between Stato and Second East I |
