| Show 1I I 1 THE GtGTUS SMELTER Orders for Its Construction Posted Yesterday AMERICAN STARTS A FURNACE V Bullion Record at the Independent Inde-pendent Furnaces Kimhcrly Joins Scottish Chiefs V Porces Tho Daly Strike Stock Sales and General News V r The plans for the mammoth concentrator concen-trator with which the Cactus group of mines out of Frisco this State ore to be equIpped weie amended yesterday yester-day upon the order of Samuel New house the owner 1 and as amended contemplate con-template a plant of at least IOO tons daily capacity giound to be broken for It at the earliest day possible and construction con-struction to be prosecuted to earliest possible completion Concurrent with this order for a more capacious mill was an order for a smelter the latter to be constructed under the supervision V supervis-ion of none other than George K V Fischer whose services were retained l during the day and whose stalT will be put to work upon the plans without delay Discussing the smelter Mr Newhouse sold that It will be a reproduction re-production of the plant which Is serving serv-ing the Highland Boy of Bingham so elllclently and which was also designed l by Mr Fischer What the Cactus smelter will cost cannot of course be intelligently approximated until the estimates es-timates shall have been completed It will have a capacity however of at least 500 tons dally affording employment employ-ment to as many persons perhaps as now find employment at the Highland Boy As amended the concentrator upon Its completion will have entailed an outlay of not less than nOO000 this Including the acquisition of water I and the construction of an iron pipeline of V a diameter of twelve Inches for a distance dis-tance 01 ten miles between Its source anti the big plant The decision of Mr Newhouse to increase I V in-crease the capacity of the concentrator was influenced of course by the changes in the physical condition of his group of mines as developments have progressed and the astonishing manner with ilm1cim the ore bodies have responded to the touch of n master miner The same influences have hastened V has-tened the order for the smelter which Will be constructed and operated without with-out alliances whatever and made to V serve the needs only of the owner of V I the Cactus For this too ground will be broken as soon as conditions will V possibly permit the order being to rush V both undertakings The concentrator has already been I provided with a site at V V the mouth of the long tunnel the site of the smelter to be determined largely by Influences that must necessarily be respected in such undertakings |
