Show 1 LAND BOARD ASKS l 100000 + Offers Old University Grounds to Board of Education Reservation Ground for High School yesterdays meeting of the State Boa 1 of Land Commissioners It was decided to offer to the Board of Education Edu-cation the old University buildings and grounds for the sum of 100000 less 12500 which the Commissioners are willing to credit to the board on account of improvements and repairs Under the termsas proposed the board would pay 12500 on January 1 1903 and 12 500 upon January t of each year fol lowlngj until the entire amount was paid nterest howexer would beat charge be-at the rate of 5 per cent per annum and the board would be required re-quired Ito assume the liability for unpaid un-paid in uranee premiums In the sum of Si2fi his offer on the part of the Com mi sionors was repotted to the board by President Newman without recommendation last evening and the matter was then referred to a committee commit-tee consisting of Messrs Newman Geo ghegan and Crltchlow for a report as to the advisability of making the purchase pur-chase In connection with the matter Mr Geoghegun moved that the States representatives In Congress be asked to present a memorial to that body asking that twenty acres of land on the Fort Douglas reservation he given to the city for high school purposes Several of the members deemed this unwise upon tho ground that the city would in all probability decline to erect a high school building on the reservation reserva-tion If the ground was tendered However How-ever after a brief discussion of the matter Mr Gcoghegans motion prevailed pre-vailed by 1 a unanimous vote |
