Show n TRIBUNE BUREAU k C Murray King1 Correspondent 11 City z rnCbzm = iar n n Friday September 4 1903 tj DISCOVERY AT THE PARK Mining Event That May Prove of Historic Importance A mining event that may prove of historic his-toric Importance has developed In Park during the last few days Perhaps no event this year will in the long run affect af-fect so many properties aa the discovery of the famous Silver King contact on the Mlnola grounds a few days ago A H Mayne announced the news yesterday and he Is morally certain he cannot be wrong Several days ago the lodge was encountered encoun-tered underlying the limestone formation It has been intersected and the quartzite beneath penetrated u short distance The ledge Is a wonder In size and mineraliza tion and bears the selfbame characteristics unc It possesses on the Silver King grounds The 11tH grade of 1 quartz Is literally saturated sat-urated with pyrites of Iron some of the late existing In such I llnuly divided state that a strong lens Is necessary to determine their presence The black oxide of manganese Is alEc present In largo quantities Where ¼ penetrated the ledge measures about thirty fool thick and leon le-on the 500foot level of tIme Mlnola shaft Mr Mayno Is not nt all discouraged that ore was not encountered In the shaft as It would have been an unusual case ot good luck to have happened upon an ore chute at the point of Intersection A drift will be run both ways on the strike of the contact for 1000 feet and lotor the shaft will be sunk to lower depths to catch the dill of the formation If I these explorations do not open up SOle startling llnds not only will tho management manage-ment be greatly surprised but all previous pre-vious observations signs and prognostications prognostica-tions will be upset A study of the Silver King formation In other localities shows that It consists tit large unproductive arcas alternating at crons ttasures and whore the formation flattens with productive pro-ductive chutes The hldtory of tho Mlnola furnishes a splendid example of tbeonitlc and practical prac-tical mining and conilrmatlon of all tho Tiripnnpelvod theories of Mr Mayne and othtrs based on careful and painstaking observation may prove 1 a boon to a half dozen prospects and to the whole camp The Mlnola shaft was sunk on ground that Is devoid of surface Indications of anything rolated to a mine And It was Ilythns time lluory that a contact ieulue would be revealed at a depth of about Silt feet Mr Mayne traced time Irrngular ciopplngs of the Sliver King contact determined de-termined as nearly us possible the dip or the ledge observed time erosions and fold ings and the correct s 0 his observi tlcns has just been remarkably l demonstrated demon-strated The boring to the present point In the Mlnola has revealed 1 formation I exactly correspondent to that revealed In the Silver King mine that little doubt as to the Identity of the formation can 1 maln Near the surface Is the same strata of fossil I shells In the hal tho same character of lime and time Imo parallel par-allel Issues and In the ledge the same kind of quarts The opening of a mine on the Mlnoia grounds will Shc a wonderful Impetus to wi mining In the Park and It will affect such properties as the Silver King Consolidated Consoli-dated the Creole the Corona and possibly l possi-bly the Steele providing tho management of the latter will adopt plans In conformity confor-mity with the prevailing theory The Silver King Consolidated expects to Intersect the contact ledge at a depth of 1300 and 1100 and are displaying their coi fdence by an Immense outlay of capital cap-ital the Creole Is down between COO and CW feet and It In thought Is about on tho eve of fnd InS the ledge and the corona Hhaft which was proJected a few hun WlS uhlC feet from tho contact sIs s-Is already von close to the vein All In all the recent development at thC Mlnola jiortuice ni generally considered to be of vast 1m ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE A dissolute woman caused no little ox cltcmcnt this morning near the rear or Tom Clarks saloon by repeated ana determined de-termined attempts to drown herself In the creel In that vicinity The woman In question who caRs her self May Reed was seen to emerge from Clarks saloon In company with two companions com-panions of her sex The trio apparently = were Intoxicated and the woman In question ques-tion broke away from her companions who were tr lnC to hold her and threw herself face downward In the stream imder the bridge She was draggeu rrom the stream by the hair only to scream and tight with tho fury of a tigress to return re-turn to her watery grave The shocking scene attracted u large crowd of spectators specta-tors and for a considerable length oC time amid shrIeking and cursing ana lighting the crazed woman tried to get back to the stream Four or five times she succeeded and was dragged out again until the police officers succeeded In gelling her away She Informed nn officer of-ficer that the cause of her attempted flul cldfi was treatment she had received from a man who had Just arrived from Salt Lake The Individual In question put In an appearance while the unfortunate woman was trying to kill herself and her enraged companions drove him from tho crowd AT CONSOLIDATED BONANZA The Consolidated Bonanza is on a stringer of as fine ore as the Snake creek district hns ever brought to light Mr Sutton received some samples of time mineral min-eral today and although no assays have yet been mado In appearance thej tire equal to the best the St LoulsVassar win show Time galenas are the pure substance sub-stance and other samples would make good cabinet specimens so brilliantly do the chlorides anurltc and bromides show up Thcr Is also some antimony among the specimen1 brought over There has not been what could properly he termed a strike on the Bonansa Con but some stringers of remarkably tine ore have Just been opened up and are being followed by a winze livery Indlcallon designates them as spurs offshootlng from the contact vein which Is In the near vicinity And tho presence of such rich offshoots speaks volumes for the parent ledge ODD FELLOWS OUTING Park City lodge No 7 Olive branch No S and the Silver Leaf Pehukah lodge No 3 of the I O O F look their annual an-nual outing nt
