Show iHS CREDIT AT STAKE Je J B McKeon of Milford Fights Against Bankruptcy CASE IN FEDERAL COURT Merchants Creditors Demand C a Receiver HcKeon Transacts a Heavy Business and Claims He Hns Abundant Assets to Meet Obligations With alleged assets amounting to more than enough to moot his liabilities liabili-ties F B MeKcon of Beaver county I Is lighting the efforts of his creditors to have him declared a bankrupt Mc Kcon Is the proprietor oC the Mllfoid Cush Store which became embarrassed r I some time ago Icl eons creditors arc I the petitioners In the bankruptcy < < proceedings I pro-ceedings which ware tiled yesterday in the Federal court The creditors of JIcKeon in this city I and Cgden have proved claims against the defendant amountinc to nearly 515000 and they auiear to have taken alarm at a move niaita by McKeon In which he transferred property amounting oj amount-ing to several thousand dollars to the I National Bank or the Republic It Is charged III the petition ° that the transfer trans-fer which amounts to about 10000 waa made to hinder delay and defeat I his creditors after his insolvency It is shown that MeXeon has merchandise r I mer-chandise debts real and personul property and the petitioners want thin I protected by having a receiver appointed ap-pointed The petitioners allege that the t property will be wasted and dissipated < if action Is not taken by the court It Is to these charges that McKeon makes answer and resists the efforts of his C creditors to have him adjudged a t bankrupt In the answer McKeon I says that the transfer In favor of the biink was made partly to cover an Indebtedness In-debtedness and that he was not insolvent I J in-solvent at the time He claims to have real property I unountlng to S2S075 merchandise to the value of 15000 besides collectable f claims amounting to 20207 and other II I property of a real and personal character 1 char-acter amounting to 1000 He states in Ills summitry that at the time the petition pe-tition was filed he had assets amounting amount-ing ta 101231 while his liabilities wore only 535000 and Hint he was abundantly abund-antly able to take care of them Upon these grounds he asks that the petition be dismissed One of the largest creditors of Mc Keon Is the Salt Lake Hardware company I com-pany which alleges that It s a creditor t cred-itor of the defendant to the amount of t 2G29 The other largest creditors are John Scowcroft Sons of Ogden for S2GS3 J Kiesel Co for 52158 Wood Grocery company for 11103 and tho Intelmountain Milling company for SH51 There are half a dozen other creditors represented on the petition whose claims amount to SGOQ and less The creditors are all lame dealers in t I lumber hardware clothing groceries I I and other goods which were used by I McKeon in his business t I |
