Show ASSAULTED BY A NEGRO IOS FKJLZIEB rOLLOWED HOME BY uNxNoWN ABKEY Slie Had Been Up Town Late Search lug for Her Husband and the Negro Followed Her Mrs Delia Frazier of SIC South Third West street was attacked ITY l an unknown negro jn the front yard of her home at an early hour this morning morn-ing The 4ctahhd only averted from Ills fiendish purpose by the wo mans screams for help and a severe blow on the temple which she struck him with the butt of a revolver Mrs Frazier had been followed by the fellow fel-low from town where she had gone In search of her husband Charles Fra zler who had failed to return home at a seasonable hour She paused at Pnwnilx saloon on South State street during the search for her husband anti It Is thought by tnc police that the colored man began following her from that place At the corner of Third South and First West streets she says that he accosted her asking her Jf she was the woman who had been at Pow ells saloon and offered Information as to the whereabouts of her husband She says that she hurried past the fellow and saw no moro of him until she was nearly home when she saw to her horror that ho was following her She began to run but was overtaken she says at the I front dpor of her residence by the negro who seized her about the waist Having Hav-ing an unloaded revolver In her hand she struck him over the head and then screamed for help at the top of her voice causing her assailant to release his hold and run southward Al Wood mansee a cripple who occupies a part of the Frazier hbme was attracted by the screams but he was unable to go in pursuit The police were notified and several officers scoured the neighborhood neigh-borhood but were unable to get any trace of the womans assallant Charles Frazier her husband upon learning of the assault and setting a description of the negro announced that he knew the fellow and arming himself with a re volver started out with the avowed Intention In-tention of killing him The police made no effort to check him |
