Show GOULD DOLLARS CASTBLIAUTE JUKES SOME SENSATIONAL SEN-SATIONAL ALLEGATIONS I I Count and Countess Complete Answering An-swering Affidavits to Injunction Proceedings to Save Their Wealth Paris Dec Sensational allegations allega-tions are made by the Count and Countess de Castellane In their answering answer-ing affidavits just completed and to be used in conjunction with the injunction Injunc-tion proceedings pending in the Su premo court of New York against George J Edwin Howard and Helen I M Gould as trustees of the estate of the late Jay Gould Count Eoni de Castellane and the Countess Anna are Intensely indignant indig-nant that any attempt should he made in the American courts to deprive them of their Income from the Gould estate They retaliate by making countercharges counter-charges of lack of good faith against Asher Wertheimer the London dealer In articles of virtu bricabrac and other luxuries who seeing no other prospect of being speedily paid the 385000 he alleges the Castellanes owe him assigned his claim to Antone J DItmar of New York and thus brought on the present legal complications The Count and Countess ask the court to vacate the injunction proceedings proceed-ings first on the ground that the Wet theimer claims are excessive that the Countess really owes him nothing and that some of the extraordinarily high priced antiques for which thousands of Gould dollars were pledged were not what they were represented to be In fact the Count and Countess Intimate a desire to prove that certain mirrors bought for a large sum are not genuine antiques Probably the strangest point In their affidavit is the allegation that their indebtedness to Wertheimer for goods actually supplied docs not and never did amount to 385000 They claim that 120000 of this big sum is accrued interest which they disclaim all re sjolsl bill t The Countess Anna sets up as another and distinct reason why the injunction should be vacated the declaration that Wertheimer retains In his possession art objects belonging to her which she values at from 300000 to 400000 and that she Is about to bring suit to recover re-cover this amount As a final point the Castellanes allege al-lege that they have property In France worth more than three limes the anfount of Wertheimers and all allied claims and that they are amply able to satisfy them The Count and Countess then supplicate suppli-cate the Supreme court of the city and county of New York not to impose an Injunction on the continued regular payment of their income from the estate es-tate of Jay Gould |
