Show I NOTED MELBOURNE VISITOR I I Australian Member of Parliament Viewing Salt Lake Hon James Brake of Melbourne member of Parliament from Victoria colony was at the Kenyon last evening I even-ing and a visitor to the Y M C A where he appeared much interested In the progress of the work In this city Miv Brake wns president of the Y M C A In Melbourne and said last night The association work in progressing In Australia very much the same as in this country and the results are as encouraging en-couraging We have also the Christian Endeavor society represented In all of the dissenting churches and the society has become very strong In speaking of the characteristics of the country Mr Brake said that the Australian farmers found It paid to cultivate only a third of their land at once leaving the rest lo go fallo7 Corn Cor-n season The land seemed to regain strength from the rest Then sheep raising and agricultural operations were combined and It was found profitable profit-able Mr Brake leaves this morning for the west en route home This is J his first visit to America and he said I he was much pleased with It |
