| Show LUKE CANNOT PRACTICE PROHIBITED PROBE APPEARING V IN JUSTICES COURTS New Law Shuts Out Those Who Are Not lawyers or Parties in Interest Blow to tile Collector A study of the new laws oLthc State by County Attorney ChrIstensen and his assistant F C Loofbourow resulted re-sulted In the barring of F G Luke the collector from a case which was ueiii LIJCU LJWLUL L b tcrday afternoon One of the laws made by I the late Legislature provldoo that no person not a regular licensed member of the bar of Utah or party in Interest in a case can practice InJustice In-Justice courts in cities of the first class In this State The point arose In the course of supplemental proceedings proceed-ings in the ease of the Rogers Cigar company vs T F Merrill Mr Loof bourow represented the defendant and Luke the cigar Company Mr Loof bourow asked if Luke had been admitted ad-mitted to the bar of Utah Luke replied re-plied that he had not and Mr Loot bourow Immediately produced a certified certi-fied copy of the new law which went Inio effect March 22nd and demanded that Luke bo fined for contempt ot court Justice Kroegrer held that Luko hd no standing In court under the law but declined to fine him for contempt con-tempt Luke at once had the case dismissed dis-missed and left the courtroom |
