| Show PASSOVER SERVICES Held at the Jewich Synagogue Last Evening Passover services were held last evening at the Synagogue There was an excellent attendance and in addition addi-tion to the regular attendance there was quite a number of strangers The singing was excellent The service Included I In-cluded prr ers and musical selections I suitable to the occasion and Rabbi Louis Reynolds spoke of the great historical his-torical moral and political significance of the festival He said that the Passover Pass-over 1C It only commemorated the physical liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian bondage would not be worthy of perpetuation Many nations and civilizations had been destroyed before the Israelites had made their appearance upou the amplthcater of human history and the memory of their struggles wars servitude and liberation had become extinct Freedom Free-dom unconnected with any great reforms re-forms freedom that has not become the motive power of noble effort freedom free-dom that has not developed the best In mans spiritual makeup Is not worthy to be preserved and commemorated The liberation of the Jews from Egypt derives Its beauty And splendor from the subsequent giving of the law by Moses which teaches that real freedom consists In the strict observance of natural nat-ural and divine law WhiCh contributes to the moral and spiritual regeneration regenera-tion of the race The service closed I I with music and benediction h |
