Show I LAKE LEVEL STATIONARY Measurement Shows I Has Not Pal I len Since November 1st People who have been fearing that tho Great Salt lake is going dry will be gratified to learn that the lake Is I maintaining Us level and probably will rise from this time on Reports received re-ceived by Director L H Murdoch of I the weather bureau show that the water wa-ter level on the 15th was one foot two Coot inches below zero exactly the same reading as on the first of the month One year ago the reading was six inches below zero and the lake kept falling until tho middle February when It was one foot below zero The drought of last year was responsible re-sponsible for the present low level said Mr Murdoch yesterday as a long period 0 dry weather affects the lake for a year after This year the precip itation was above the normal and the water will probably rise from this time until spring I look for a higher level in June than that of last June Director Murdoch returned yesterday from Mantl where he heard some curious curi-ous stories 0 the recent earthquake From the engineer of the train he learned that In Sevier county great rocks were shaken from the tops of tho mountains Along the ridges flashes of light like sheet lightning were observed ob-served showing the electrical disturbance disturb-ance incident t the seismic shocks |
