Show MOSES THATCHER HURT Victim of a Serious Runaway Last Evening HIS HEAD BADLY INJURED Both Sides of Hin Face Covered With Contusions Badly Covered With Bruises Doctor Wright Says Most Serious Injury Appears t Be in the Chest Which Came Into Contact Con-tact With n Stump as lilr Thatcher Was Being Dragged by His Team Ho Suffers Much Pon Moses Thatcher was the victim of an accident yesterday afternoon which might ely have cost him his life and which resulted In very painful injuries in-juries not thought to be serious however how-ever The accident occurred In Mr Thatchers own dooryard and ho IB extremely thankful that It was no worse I About 5 oclock he had hitched to his favorite trap his young team of thoroughbreds thor-oughbreds and getting up behind them he proceeded t drive out of the stable In the rear of his residence on the corner cor-ner oc West Temple and North Temple streets Ho had barely cleared the stable sta-ble when from some cause unlearned both animals commenced to rear and plunge and then to run They did not go very far however ere Mr Thatcher saw that the vehicle would strike tho steps on the north side of the house and It was then that he partially Jumped and was partially thrown from the trap being dragged for about fifty feet and then thrown violently against 0 stump Although badly bruised he retained consclouoness until the stump was struck but he then relapsed into Insenslblliy He was carried Into the Insenslb1y carre house Dr Wright was summoned and soon summonec had him restored to consciousness and discovered 0 jagged wound on the head abot threequarters of an inch In length which bled freely and required several stitches to close and several bad contusions on both sides of his face all of which are very painful but not necessarily serious Besides these said the doctor his body Is amass a-mass of contusions but the most sort ous of his Injuries appears to be in the chest which gives him considerable pain of which he complained very much and which was undoubtedly inflicted In-flicted when he hit the stump The doctor said no bones were broken jut It I was a wonder there were none Mr Thatcher may be confined to his house for some time The horses were stopped 0 Mortclg tanco from the house and the vehicle badly to which damaged they were attached was qulte |
