Show BOYS PURSUE YOUNG FUGITIVE Willie Calvert Charged With the Theft of a Bicycle Chased by Fifty flh 11 L P Boys and Captured for the Police Anyone in the neighborhood of Second Sec-ond South and Slate streets about 6 oclock last evening might easily have thought that he waa in the vicinity of I a band of Indians from the shouts and yells emanating from a crowd of young boys who were in hot pursuit l of another young lad named Willie Calvert who Is charged with steal Ing a wheel belonging to Roy Fallas of Waterloo A short time before two little boys John Loofbourow and Dave Thompson told Officer Barlow on Main I street that they had a wheel which they knew was a stolen one Thompson Thomp-son explained that about two weeks ago he purchased the wheel from Calvert for 275 hut learned yesterday that it belonged to Fallas The officer took the wheel and the boys declared that they would get Mm meaning that they would capture young Cal vert They Boon found him near the Grand theater Calvert must have been aware that the boys were after him for as soon as he saw them he started on a run across the street They ran after him and soon the pursuing party par-ty f was Increased to about fifny boys ranging from 30 to 12 years of age Young Calvert to escape his pursuers tried to conceal hlmselfbphlnd a post in front of the Dewey saloon on Second South street Thompson and Loof bourow howeyer nabbed him and marched the young captive up to 0111 cer Hempel who placed him In Jail with a charge of petit larceny against him The bicycle was taken from the homo of Roy Kahlcr 531 South Fifth East street where Fallas was In the habit of leaving it while attending the Oqulrrh school |
