Show FRANKLIN SCHOOL MEETING Resolution Adopted Favoring School Tax Bill A wellattended mass meeting of the patrons of the Franklin schJol was held at the school building last night and at the conclusion of several speeches a resolution was drawn up urging the Legislature to pass the sphool tax bill The speakers were President W J Newman nnd A G Glauque of the Board of Education and Superintendent Frank B Cooper nil of hom spoke In favor of keeping the schools open the full term Mr Glauque said that the present Board of Education was as economical ns any hoard that had pre ceded It and that no part of the means had been hquandered Mr Newman urged that il would be better to keep the schools open nine monthsthan to have time Fcliool children running the streets The cost per capita now he said was considerably lees than during his own school days when tuition paid for by each student Superintend wan ent Cooper said that any one impairing the opportunities for the education of the young dots a great Injury to sock ty and that the schools should be kept open by all means A committee consisting of James I Ilegncy J W Ash ton and J A Brown wax appointed to draw up a resolution 5 I urging the Legislature to pass the school tax bill and Gus Backman wan selected to present the resolution to the Legislature today |
