Show I REPORT Of GRAND JURY I Several Indictments were Returned Re-turned Yesterday f i ONE NEW CASE MADE PUBLIC II I I I Emma Wilson Charged with Sending Obsccno IiTatter Through the Hails I Other Indictments are Against i Olsen for Assaulting tho Indian I I Mountain Sheep Murphy for RbI I biug a JPostofllco and Brennen for Impersonating n U S Officer t TimberCutting Case Tried I The United Slates grand jury which has been at wtirlc since Wednesday came Into court at 3 oclock yesterday with Its report and was discharged by Judge Riser who took occasion to thank them for the prompt V attention they had given to the mutters brought before them and to hope all would reach home In safety Indictments were returned against I 1 aines Olsen Thomas B Murphy 1 T Brcnncn and Emma Wilson nil of I whom arc now In the county jail In this city I cityOlsen i Olsen is charged with assault upon I an Indian Mountain Sheep and th mare 1 m-are four counts in the Indictment I against him for assault with intent to kill and malm with a pistol and a tent pole The alleged offense was committed com-mitted on the Ulntah reservation on November S 1S09 Thomas B Murphy Is charged with breaking V Into the poslofllcc at Morgan I Mor-gan Utah on Juno 5 1890 and steal Ing United Staten property Murphy is otherwise known as Frank Merrill There arc four counts against J r Brennen Impersonating an Internal revenue officer pretending to be an employee of the Treasury department representing himself to he a revenue oflleer pretending to be the Collector of Internal Revenue for the district of Montana and pretending to be deputy collector of Internal revenue for the Seventh district of Montana and securing se-curing money papers taxes duties otcEmma V Emma Wilson Is charged with send lug obscene matter through the malls It is i alleged that on the Oth of May 38D she addressed an envelope to Mr Sollle Woods 2125 Lincoln avenue Denver Colo and that the envelope contained a lewd Indecent and obscene ob-scene letter beginning Dear Sollie and signed Emma The woman had been a detained witness wit-ness in a similar case In Pueblo Colo and was known to the Marshals of I nee here After the indictment had been returned Marshal Miller arrested the woman on the street and took her before United States Commissioner D IT Tome Her bond was fixed at S500 which she was unable to furnish She was accordingly taken to the county Jail There were some other Indictments returned but as the arrests have not been accomplished as yet the names arc withheld All those who have been arrested will be arraigned tomorrow |
