Show DEMOCRATIC DELEGATES MEET Discuss Special Train and Other Business A part of the Utah delegation to the Democratic national convention at Kansas Kan-sas City met last evening at J H Moyles ofllce to make arrangements for the trip east George W Thatcher acted as chairman chair-man and J M Cohen secretary of the State committee acted as secretary George W Thatcher and A II Tar bet were the only delegates present Judge Knox wired that he could not attend on account of business engagements engage-ments but A J Weber did not send his regrets Neither did R C Chambers Senator J L Rawlins is in Washing ton and will probably not return to Utah until after the convention meets In which event ho will join the delegation delega-tion in Kansas City Mrs J M Cohen A G Horn and J H Barnes Jr were the only alternates present Secretary Cohen reported that in pursuance of the Instructions given at the last meeting about a month ago ho had written to the leading hotels in Kansas City and on receipt of the replies re-plies he had consulted with Mr Tarbot the only member of the delegation whom ho could find and Mr Tarbec had authorized him to close a contract with the Baltimore hotel for room 621 which according to the specifications Is 20x30 feet Mr Tarbct said he had agreed to stand good for the room pendIng pend-Ing further arrangements by Die delegation dele-gation The room will cost 23 per day and is to be used not less than four days Owing to the absence of the other members of time delegation it was decided de-cided not to fix the time of departure until the secretary could consult them and find out when they wished to leave for the East A II Tarbct A G Horn and J M Cohen v > ere named as a committee to select an official route and determine as to the advigablllty of chartering a special spe-cial car or special train The concen sus of opinion seemed to favor a special car owing to the danger from ned dents to a special train Mr Tavbet thought a special car on a regular train was much the safer way to travel The committee on transportation cIil l meet at Mr Tarbets office this morning morn-ing at 10 oclock A delicate compliment was paid Mrs Cohen by a motion made by Mr Trvrbet which authorized her to select the ofli elal badge for the Utah delegation Mrs Cohen performed that duty at Once by hoosing f roiu the many samples offered a beautiful bndge made of Javendcr rib bon to which is attached a miniature of W J Bryan surrounded by a sliver circlo set with garnets The bar from which the badge Is suspended will be of creamcolored enamel upon which the word Utah in black letter ill bo printed Time badge lg a very pretty af fair and all present congratulated Mrs Cohoti on her selection The matter of tho distribution of tickets to the coif vonllon was discussed informally but no action was taken The delegation Mill not organize by electing the ppr manpnt chairman until Just before de parting for Kansas City |
