were few brief wellpre I pared and excellently delivered and the t1 programme was rendered more enjoyable I I enjoy-able by number of rare and bpaull f fnl tableaux Interspersed with musical t selections Everything1 was managed beautifully and passed off smoothly The building had been draped in the class and school colors The stage was S decorated with red and red and black o 1 stroarmrs the first being the class VI color and the second the high school I colors Attached to the bottom of the drop curtain were a number of red streamers which unfolded thcrnaelvcs t X < I J a Til qz4 4 colors Yale blue and white k The building was very well filled with students patrons of the school instructors in-structors members of the Board oft of-t Education city and State officers and bards and I minstrels and Its part In the perfecting I perfect-ing of the language together with her hIgh J appreciation and understanding of the spirit of the great Poets and writers of the ages made In connection with this was entitled The Mathematician Mathema-tician The character was taken by Royal IIearn Milllron and the scene presented was that of an old mathematician mathema-tician In an attic surrounded by his Instruments Miss Nellie Goss spore on Science I Illustrating how Interest In this branch of learning had increased In the last few years and saying lhat before the time of Newton and Franklin the most advanced scientists knew less about I the principles of the study than the average person does today The science group was composed of Misses Sara Reid Park Margaret Campbell Miller Daisy Raybould and Lillian May Billings Bil-lings with appropriate setting the lamp of learning being held high by one of the figures I Miss Pear Weller who In her simple gown of white lion and like the others was loudly encored The curtain was then dropped for a time and on its I being drawn up again the entire clas3 with Superintendent Cooper Principal A O Clark President I Presi-dent JO W Wilspn the Board of Education Edu-cation and others Vas discovered on the slago Miss Agnlha Berkhoel sang noel Thou Know Thai Sweet Land from MIgnon by h Thomas In a beautiful beau-tiful manner Principal Clark then delivered I de-livered an address to the graduating class complimenting them on having I completed their school work and concluding con-cluding with Homo beautiful thoughts convoying words of advice and encouragement encour-agement to the young men and women who were passing from his charge He was followed by Mr Wilson of the Board of Education who in presenting the diplomas made a brief und effective effec-tive iddrcsB to the class congratulai Ing them and encouraging them to seek to live lives of usefulness and beauty The diplomas were then handed to the graduates each one receiving generous applause as he or she stepped forward 1 to receive the testimonials of having successfully suc-cessfully completed the course In the city schools Thu benediction was then delivered by Prof Lyman and while part of tho audience left for their homes others remained to congratulate the graduateS |
