Forty years ago George Francis Train went to England to Inaugurate a street car system for the big cities their dependence then being on omnibuses I omni-buses Now Charles T Yerkes of Chicago I Chi-cago has gone and proposes if permitted per-mitted to equip London with new trolley lines and develop suburban real estate Mr Yerkes has had some experience ex-perience not only with railroads but with aldermen He believes the London Lon-don Aldermen belong to the great An gloSaxon race and no doubt his purpose pur-pose is to get the lines if possible even If he has to treat aldermen In London as he Is reputed to have treated them in Chicago We will wager that he will get the right of way and with it some corners on realty in the suburbs He may go so far as to put up some modern mod-ern houses do some paving etc but It will be understood from the first that residents of London will have to pay him for his trouble because Yerkes never gets carried away by a climate so much that he invests large amounts just for the salce of a residence and his health If he has his way he will make some real improvements in London first and second London will pay for the Improvements
