Show State Employees Send Gifts to Training School Gifts of state employees, including in-cluding 17 television sets, several radios and phonographs, not to mention large quantities of toys, magazines, coloring books, sewing sew-ing sets, candy, and $200 in cash (used to buy television parts and other needed items), were collected col-lected and sent recently to boys and girls at the American Fork Training School, according to Dean R. Steed, Chief Accountant of the State Highway Department, Depart-ment, and President of Utah State Employees Association, which sponsored the drive. Culminating a drive of several weeks duration, a van loaded with the gifts was sent to American Amer-ican Fork. Dr. Vernon Houston, superintendent of the hospital, gratefully accepted the cargo in behalf of the children. Heroes of this heartwarming story, in addition to the State employees who donated, and committee members, included the members of the, Utah Association Associ-ation of Radio and Television Servicemen, who donated their labor in repairing the used TV sets. George Heltman is president presi-dent of UARTS and he spearheaded spear-headed the repair part of the drive. Members of the American Fork Drive Committee were: Jay Sandberg, Department of Highways, High-ways, chairman; Chris S. Metos, chief, Information and Education Division; and Herbert M. Feh-mel, Feh-mel, Illustrative Engineer, Department De-partment of Highways; James G. Cayias, State Insurance; Brig-ham Brig-ham Clegg, Capitol Post Office; and Richard P. Lindsay, secretary secre-tary manager of USPEA. "The generosity of all who participated par-ticipated will be greatly appreciated appreci-ated and enjoyed by the children at American Fork, whose hours will pass more quickly and happily hap-pily because of their efforts," President Steed stated. |
