Show Utah Girl Scouts To Observe Week Utah Girl Scouts will join ZVz million girls and adults across the country in observing the 50th anniversary of the founding of th Girl Scouts in the U.S., with Girl Scout Week to be noted with special events March 11-17, Mrs. John S. Erickson, president of the Utah Girl Scout Council has announced. In a statement issued by Gov. George D. Clyde, he called on all citizens "to give Girl Scouts the fullest cooperation coopera-tion and support as they enter upon their second half century, so that increasing numbers of girls may benefit from the splendid splen-did program of training in citizenship citi-zenship which the Girl Scouts offer." Gov. Clyde designated March 11-17 as Girl Scout Week in Utah and March 12 as Golden Anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts in the U.S." He hailed the benefits for the young girls, noting that "in the past fifty years more than fourteen four-teen million girls have shared in the profoundly important educational, educa-tional, spiritual and social experiences ex-periences of Girl Scouting" and I that during these years "four and a half million men and women have been devoted volunteers vol-unteers in the Girl Scout movement." The Utah Girl Scout Council will observe Girl Scout Week in a variety of ways. The week will begin with Girl Scout Sabbath and Girl Scout Sunday March 10 and 11 when Girl Scouts in the state will attend services in the church of their choice, wearing their Girl Scout uniforms. Maj. Arthur B. Harris, 676 E. 5600 South, completed the 16 week associate course at the Army Command and General Staff college, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, recently. The class of 410 U. S. Army officers and 36 officers from 16 allied nations received diplomas from Brig. Gen. Ha rry Lemley, assistant commandant of the college, col-lege, at graduation day ceremonies. ceremo-nies.
