Show Demos Must Reverse Election Trend, Bailey Tells Leaders "With good candidates and hard work to educate the voters, get them registered and get them to the polls, the Democratic party can reverse the 28-year-old trend against mid-term Congressional gains by the party holding the White House," John M. Bailey, chairman of the Democratic National Na-tional Committee said this week. Bailey spoke to members of the Democratic Midwest Conference Confer-ence and to county chairmen and other political leaders of West Virginia, White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., in the opening of a national na-tional grass roots organizing drive with county chairmen. "Opinion polls, checks with Democrats all across the country, my own first hand observations, and the results of the actual elections elec-tions which have been held since the inauguration of President Kennedy, all tell us this story: A big majority of voters approve of his actions; the preference of voters is for the Democrats; the GOP is weak and confused." "This means we must elect more Democratic Congressmen next fall to aid the President." |
