Moss Discloses I Utah Allocations For Airport Work Utah has been allocated $697 789 as its share of the Federal . funds available for airport im provements for the fiscal yea i ending June 30, 1962, Senator Frank E. Moss (D-Utah) declared. Wednesday. j And he said that 13 Utah ap-! plications have been filed, requesting re-questing a total of more than $1 million. . Senator Moss said that the 1962 airport program will be submitted sub-mitted by the Federal Aviation Agency sometime next week, and that it will include the individual project allocations for Utah. . Moss was a co-sponsor of the Federal Airport Act amendments which in 1959, extended the contract con-tract authority and provided $63 million for fiscal 1961 and $75 million for fiscal 1962. i The Senator received the Utah information from N. E. Halaby, FAA administrator, who also submitted the agency's report for the fiscal year which ended June 30, 1961. It showed that Utah received $719 804 for that year, of a total of $60 million allocated to the continental United States. Moss explained that Federal funds may be used to pay 50 per cent of the cost of approved projects. He said: "ine Federal program is designed de-signed to aid construction of facilities that are necessary for the safety and comfort of passengers, pas-sengers, such as runways, lighting, light-ing, and restrooms. Luxury and convenience items such as restaurants, restau-rants, cocktail lounges, parking areas, and most portions of storage stor-age and administration buildings, must be borne entirely by local financing." The Utah projects for which grant agreements were concluded conclud-ed during fiscal year 1961 are: Blanding Airport, Blanding, $21,923; Brigham City Airport, Brigham City, $63,861; Municipal Airport, Cedar City, $29,317; Logan-Cache County Airport, Logan, $87,383; Municipal No. 1, Salt Lake City, $712,563. |
