Show Clyde Presents Budget Of $97,000,000 Gov. George D. Clyde this week presented a budget of some $97,000,000, approximately $17,-000,000 $17,-000,000 less than the $113,956,-000 $113,956,-000 requested by the state's institutions in-stitutions and departments. The budget drew immediate criticism from Democrats and only cautious backing from a number of Republicans. The governor's new budget is some $11,000,000 more than the total of appropriations and deficits defi-cits for the current biennium. The $97,000,000 did not include in-clude state building, a general fund transfer to the Uniform School Fund or state aid for school construction. The total will amount to some $121,758,000, compared with the currient biennium sum of $109,-830,000. $109,-830,000. The proposed budget, reportedly report-edly in balance with anticipated revenues, does not contemplate issuance of bonds. It does, however, how-ever, contemplate tax changes to raise an estimated $4,800,000. The governor devoted his budget bud-get message primarily to the general fund. |
