Show Sen. Moss Accepting Applications For Merchant Marine Sen. Frank E. Moss has announced an-nounced he is accepting applications applica-tions from young men who are interested in an appointment to the U. S. Merchant Marines at Kings Point, New York. Applications Appli-cations must reach the Senator before Jan. 31. "This is a wonderful opportunity opportun-ity for Utah boys who want to make seafaring their profession," the Senator said. "Upon graduation gradu-ation they will become officers in the U. S. Merchant Marine, a calling which takes courage, stamina and skill. With the atom powered merchant ship a possibility possi-bility in the not too distant future, fu-ture, the profession of mariner will soon require an even higher level of training and challenging challeng-ing careers lie ahead." The Senator will make ten nominations for the two Utah vacancies at the Academy. Candidates Can-didates will undergo both mental men-tal and physical examinations, and the successful applicants will enter the Academy on August 24 of this year. It is, an accredited four year degree granting college col-lege similar to West Point and Annapolis. According to the Senator, to be eligible for nomination a man must be a U. S. citizen, unmarried, unmar-ried, have passed his 17th birthday birth-day and not have passed his 22nd birthday on August 24, to be a high school graduate, and be a legal resident of Utah.
