Show Carl Sandburg Will Talk at U. Carl Sandburg, eminent poet and historiari, will appear on the University of Utah campus tonight to-night at the invitation of the Associated Students of the U. of U. He will speak informally before be-fore students and towns-people tonight at 8:15 in Kingsbury Hall, when he will read some of his poetry, sing ballads to his own guitar acompaniment, and comment on the passing American Ameri-can scene. Seldom has a living writer been given recognition in so many fields as Carl Sandburg. For his classic biography Abra-I Abra-I ham Lincoln: The War Years, he received the Pulitzer prize for history 1940, and a decade later the Pulitzer prize for poetry for his Complete Poems. Among numerous honorary degrees de-grees and other honors awarded him were the gold medal for history his-tory and biography from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1952, the gold medal of the Poetry Society of America and the silver medal of the New I York Civil War Round Table. |
