Show Voters Approve Bond issue For Airport Improvements Salt Lake City voters this week approved a two and one-half million dollar airport improvement improve-ment bond issue by a ratio of more than 19 to 1. v The final, unofficial tally was 16,438 in favor to 860 against. Only a simple majority was needed to pass the measure. . The 17,298 votes cast was nearly double the number cast in a water bond issue last March but was 13,000 smaller than the April school board special lee way voter total. The' vote was hailed by city officials as signifying the people's peo-ple's willingness to keep Salt Lake City one of the west's major ma-jor air transport centers during the approaching jet airliner age. Actual construction on the new airport terminal-ne of the major ma-jor improvements in the program, pro-gram, will get under way within a few days, said Salt Lake City Commissioner L.C. Romney. The contract will go to Christiansen Brothers, Salt Lake Contractors. |
