Show T BMeet Stresses Nursing Education Nursing education was the subject sub-ject of meetings and conferences held April 20 and 21 by the Utah Tuberculosis and Health Association Asso-ciation and the Utah League for Nursing. Special guest was Miss Ruth Leininger, R.N., Associate Director Direc-tor and Nursing Education Consultant Con-sultant for the Tuberculosis Advisory Ad-visory Service, New York City. The service is a joint operation of the National League for Nursing Nurs-ing and the National Tuberculosis Tuberculo-sis Assn. Private consultation with Miss Leininger was held Monday. A group conference and a luncheon meeting was arranged by the Utah League for Nursing at the University of Utah Union Bldg., i Tuesday. "Heads of the schools of nursing nurs-ing and other nursing leaders in the state participated in the conferences," con-ferences," said Franklin Brough, Executive Director of the Utah Tuberculosis and Health Assn. "Tuberculosis is a changing picture at the present time, and the purpose of the meeting was to inquite whether or not nurses are being trained to be in tune with the times. If not, how can we get up to date?" Brough explained. ex-plained. "For example, tuberculosis is more common among older people peo-ple today rather than middle- aged people as it was a decade or two ago. This is posing a new challenge, for in some area the nurses have not been adequately trained to handle the elderly chronic disease problem." What kind of nursing service these people need and are getting is an important im-portant question."
