Sherman Sher-man introduced a bill repealing that part of the present silver act which provides for monti.ly purchases of bullion, to take effect January 1, next. The committee on contingent expenses reported a comprehensive resolution providing provid-ing for the investigation by a special committee com-mittee of the senate of the Homestead troubles, organization and employment of Pinkertons aud the nature of labor troubles. The resolution went over until tomorrow . Higgins introduced a bill authorizing retaliation re-taliation for certain unjust discriminations by the Dominion of Canada against the United States. Senator Sherman today introduced a bill for the repeal of certain parts of the act directing the purchase of silver bullion and issue of treasury notes thereon approved July 14th, 18U0. The bill provides so much of the act as the directs secretary of the treasury to purchase from - time to - time silver bullion to aggregate $4,Tj00,000 ounces, or such portion thereof as may be offered each month at market price thereon, and issue iu payment for such purchases of silver bullion treasury uotes of the United States, is hereby repealed, to take effect January 1, 13H3, provided, however, the act shall not in any way effect or impair or change the legal qualities of redemption or use of treasury uotes issued under said act. nousE.
