The three little "l'V in the gastronomic pod are doing their work effectively and i Wtb. Mi already the Indi-cations are that the liberal majo-rity will exceed the figures of tho most reckless prophet. Thanks to Dr. Burehard Seliroedcr, the effect upon the political system has been at once prompt and pow erful, and in not a word have they failed t o work with the most gratifying re-sults. Ths pulpit which has rarely permit-ted Itself to indulge in any active work of the campaign, is justified in this Instance in that it lias the lurid tongue of slander and vituperation to rebuke. The thousands of honorable men who have led iu the emanci-pation of tliis territory from the stern and merciless hand of tho tithe-fe- tyranny and in tho vindication of the one mother, the one sister and tho one daughtur on the "uncrowned queen" of her house-hold, have another cowardly and atrocious insult to American womanhood to avengo and the three little pellets lirod by Aescula-pius Shroeder now guarantee a majority on tMonday next that will place patriotism in tab beyond all future reach of church de-mocracy and oppression. Chairman Powers stated to a reporter this afternoon that never had the liberal standard been so popular as it is today and avails himself of the opnor. tunity of expressing thanks to tho cohab democracy and the "three little p's" which are doing such effective service. Ho esti-mates after a calm review of the field that the majority will be not less than 500. The Liberal Territorial Convention. The territorial liberal convention called for the purpose of stamping its disapproval of measures looking forward to independent government, if not to statehood, in Utah, was convened at noon today in Walker's in which was concentrated the pick the flower and the masses of Utah patriot-ism and intelligence. All morning delega- tions from the various towns and cities 'of the territory were arriving and when at noon fudge powers, Chairman of the territorial committee mounted tho hurricane deck, it was in the presence of one of the grandest mobilizations of patriots ever witnessed in the n empire. There was scarcely a portion of Utah, however remote, that was not represented. Summit with Its' sea of sliver coining down with a full dele, gation headed by Hon. E. P. Kerry and Colonel McLaughlin. They were accom-panic- d by .the Park City brass band which discoursed appropriate airs, and which awakened unmistakable evidences of the fact that the battle was on with the same, intensity as of yore. Ogden, too, came down with her pick of progress and patriot, ism accompanied by Kent's military baud and having reached the great hall there was a band recital which lasted until Chairman Powers brought dow n the gavel and the great convention was assembled for its de-liberations. Kcv. Dr. Iliff invoked divine approval tendering thanks for enactments that had restored purity of tho homo and for laws that had secured to all mankind a govern, ment equal to any beneath the sun. The call of the convention which defined that its object was to take steps to defeat the ruinous legislation that had been intro. dueed In congress was read by Joe Llpmen in the absence of Seerctm-i-- aii j '" n, tMMSV upon Judge Powers took the platform. Xevcr, said he, had the liberals of the territory been assembled In a convention that was of more importance than that which brought them together today. Ho recalled the fact that in Ogden and Park City aud Salt Lake the patriots were capable of taking care of themselves but it should not be forgotten that out in the little ham. lets there were patiiots who felt the need of their protection. .Judge Powers In concluding announced the Hon.
