Tomorrow is Kasier, and the whole Christian world will, with bowed heads nr.'l humble hearts, will worship at the feet of a risen Lord. Christ is risen today." "Christ is risen indeed." Sueh wits wont to be the greeting and response of the primi-tive Christians as Ehey met on Easter tnorn. It is w ell that we should remember the significance of the day. The earth freed from the grasp of winter, greets the morn yvith flowers, and all life seems to have renewed itself in the promises of the day. Signs of peace this blessed day brings: the Christian faith shines forth in glad-ness, new born that is carried abroad by the perfume from the hundreds 01 thousands of flower - decked church ullars. We who dwell in homes of joy and gladness, where the promise of the day shed- - hope and love, let us not forget those homes where want and sadness hath slain joy, and where hearts are lilicd with pain and woe. . TWO BLACKGUARDS. Within the past few tlays we have had insults hurled at womanhood from high places. Not ten days ago Mr. Frs-T"- , member of the lower hou.-- e of the national eongress from Kansas, took occasion to make some highly objec-tionable remarks regarding the sex. becaue, forsooth, a statement had been published in which he was accused of taking a drink of '"cold tea" at the bar in the National house of representatives. Yesterday Mr. Wissixo, member of the lower house of the New York legisla-ture delivered a blackguard speech on the female suffrage bill, then under consideration. Can it be that chivalry is on the wane? There must be some cause for this apparent lack of that respect which it has been the custom to accord to women. Can it be that the recent movement for what she calls her 'Tights" is gradually placing her in a position that removes that veneration for womanhood which has always held in the masculine make-up- ? Or is it that these two men are born black-guards the exceptions which only prove the rule? Trustee,' ia:o, W'L'hl KAS, ON MARCH 6, iH'JO, SUSIE M. ' Fn e and John F. Free made and delivered John B. Whether it is really necessary to have all sorts of people in the world or not, the fact remains that we have them; and to all appearances there are a great many who do not seem to lie of :iuy tiie whatever. There may be mis-tite- , or intended merely to compensate for some excess in the usefulness of others. As the human world is made up now Jt averages pretty well.
