Show ACCIDENT DURING THE RACES. A Mont Bolti the Track and Fatally In. Jnreg a Bpectatar. St. Louis, Aug. 11. During the races yesterday a peculiar and serious accident acci-dent occurred. During the running race in which a half a dozen local roadsters roads-ters had been entered, when a short distance from the starting point, Big Texas, one of tho entries, bolted tho track, dashed through the grass at the side, jumped over a sulky that wan iu his track and lighted on the Captain Thomas Parkers, a prominent river man, and a coachman named Kdwards, who were among the number of spectators specta-tors of the race. Tho excitement became be-came intense, in the midst of which it was found that a boy named Robert Hagers had been knocked senseless by the horse. Kdwards will recover, Parker's iuluries will probably prove fatal. |
