Oue point that is prominent in the I'nion Pacilic toilay and all other roads too, is that of economy. The present financial condition so general in the en-tire country will not admit of construc-tion of new lines to any great extent. This is seen in various Hues whoso man-agement desire to build into new lands but are prevented from active opera-tion for the want of friends. The pub-lic, and especially the people of I'tah. may be assured that the Union Pacilic will respond to their calls for construc-tion when the proper time has arrived. President I'illou and his party are pleasant people. One thing that is gratifying; to the ambitious young men of Salt Lake is that so many of the heads of the various departments of the great Union Pacific, are ably tilled by vouniz men.
