Show JEFFERS ON SILVER. What tli. National Commutes Hit. Dob and ara Doing for l-'raa Coiaaga. Mr. K. (!. JelTers. of tho national silver sil-ver commission this morning said: "During the last year the committee has expended about $,'0,000 in educating educat-ing the voters of the eastern and mid-die mid-die states upon tho question of silver, in. other words, putting silver back to tho place from which it was struck by fraud in 187H. Tho committee has circulated cir-culated nearly 2,000,000 documents tainted by them ou tho subject, and the demand for such document was greater when 1 left Washington City than ever before. By expending a few dollars in a county or eveu congressional district, we have changed the views of the vot-eis. vot-eis. but wo have hardly touched the great mass of voters, and they are demanding de-manding information; therefore my mission to tho silver producing states is to call the attention of your people to tha facts, and ask au honest answer to this question. Do you want free coin- age of silver or not? If you do you will support the committee in their efforts, and furnish them at onco funds with which to make the campaign during dur-ing this 'off year." "The history of the world will not show where, iu the same length of time, for the same amount of money, thern w as ever such grand tractarian work done as has been done by your committee, com-mittee, nnd they are just now well qualilied to more than doublo the results re-sults of their ellorts. Tree coinage coin-age would be of more than $.l,0(i0,00i advantage to the people of Ltab. $.10,000 invested now with the committee, simply as a business investment, invest-ment, would pay more than four times the amount inveited in a lottery or in even auy legitimate business enterprise. That your people will do their duty I am confident aud will forward for-ward their money to (icu. George B. Williams, Xo. 700 Fourteenth street, Washington, I). C. and write to Col. Lee Crandall, 1202 Pennsylvania avenue, ave-nue, Washington, 1). C, for information, informa-tion, documents, etc." Mr. Jetlers will speak to the Denver chamber of commerce April SiUh. |
