This morning President Harrison's marina excursion opened w ith a fog, but as the forenoon wore ou the fog lifted and left the harbor sparkling in sunlight. Along the water frotit were numerous decorations ou the houses suit shipping and the yacht clubs. Around the bay every boat house and vessel was decked out in colors. Tho orui.er Charleston was resplendent resplend-ent in her new dress. Tim City of Pueblo, Pu-eblo, the steamer to convey tho presidential presi-dential party on the excursion and other large vessels were also decorated from stein to stern. h er ten thousand persons accompanied him on the trip iu vessels of various sorts. The City of 1'ueblo steamed into the bay followed by the Charleston, the government steamer Madrono, the revenue rev-enue cutters Kush and Cowin and other steamers and ciafts followed. Tho pageant was never excelled on the bay of San F rancisco. The route extended to Fort Point, west to Whistling Whist-ling Buoy and ten miles out to sea. stopping to view the forts and military sites which greeted the president with a salute as the vessels passed. |
