Show An After-Dlimer Speech. Daniel Dougherty. An after-diuner speech should always be brief. It ought never to exceed ten minutes in length. It should begin with some light pleasantry and end with sentiment. The instant that you have uttered all the thoughts you had in mind sit down. Don't hesitate and fish around for more ideas or reproduce re-produce the old ones. If you do you will spoil your ease of manner, and manner means a great deal in an after-dinner after-dinner speech. If you say nothing pleasantly, everybody at table will consider con-sider that vou have said it well. People Peo-ple at a table do not look for profound thought or solemn propositions. And above andbpyondall things, they object ob-ject to being wearied. |
