Show Lost Their Coats While Courting. Courting is sometimes carried on under difficulties extraneous to the main one of winning the maiden's hand and heart. A case of this kind that recently came to light at Philadelphia is probably without its equal. A man who had always been looked upon as a hard working, honost mechanic me-chanic is the father of two daughters, both ot whom bad a suitor. During the winter these young men, when they started to go home one evening, found their overcoats missing from the rack in the hallway. The theft was reported to the police, who blamed it on snenk thieves. One of the young men bad no leas than three overooate stolen during the winter and the other lost two, besides his hat. Fivo other friends who made informal calls also missed their coats. The father of the girls was the most active in denouncing the thief when the losses were discovered. Recently all of the coats were found at a downtown pawnbroker's office, and the description de-scription of the man who pawned them tallied exactly with that of the father of the girls, who moved away very suddenly while the young men were deliberating whether tfhey should secure his arrest or not |
