Show THE COLOKADANS. An Enthusiastic Meeting- in Ratification or , the Liberal Ticket. The Colorado association met in the Federal court room last night and unanimously adopted tho following resolutions res-olutions which wore presented by Judge Colburn: Whereas, The Colorado Asxociatlon lie linves it to be a patriotic duty to maintain the integrity and preserve the supremacy of Utah : Resolved. That to this end the aKnocialina hereby ratines the nominations of July 31, ink;. and tii-jres its members and every Coloradan to give his best effort to the election ot the Liberal Lib-eral ticket. The mcetiug was called to order by President Harvey. In his opening remarks re-marks he said and thev had met. not as politicians, but as Americans seeking the welfare of all. Back of all personal interests was the patriotism that had sustained the country to the present time, without either democracy or republicanism, re-publicanism, for the time of party strife had not yet come to Utah. Defeat of tho Liberal cause would perpetuate disaster to all the best interests of Utah, and they were present for the purpose of preventing that disaster, and in time making Utah a state ho cared not whether republican or democratic, so long as it was American. Judge Colburn was the next speaker. He called on all Coloradans to support the straight Liberal ticket. Defeat would be a calamity, and as a real estate es-tate man, he could say that it would cost the county $10,000,000 in twelve months. If the wires would carry back word to the millions of tbe east that Salt Lake had given back her politics to the keeping of the church of the Latter-Day Saints she would receive a blow that would be fatal to her future prosperity. Col. F'ereuson said today the ques- Hon was one of civilization against retrogression. ret-rogression. The Liberal party was on the side of civilization. The Peoples' party was no more American than it was in 1857, and he called on all true men to discard petty jealousies and remember re-member the principles that were at st&k6 H. S. McCallum said that so far from being one of the disappointed ones, he was for the ticket to work for it like a true American and true Liberal. H C. Lett said that no one who had the interests of Utah at heart could vote against the Liberal ticket. Judge Lynch said that this fight was a deeper one than any political fight could be. The Liberals had won Salt Lake City and now they would win the county and eventually the territory. A short address was also made by Judge Waller in which he paid a high tribute to the Liberal candidates and urged all to support them. Music was furnished by the Liberal band. |
