Show TWO ARABS ARRESTED FOR MURDER. One of Their Companions Found Murdered m an Abandoned Shanty. Syracuse, n. y., July 2'.). Two swarthy Arabians, repulsive in appearance, appear-ance, with wooden boxes strapped over their shoulders, are confined in the station sta-tion house here. They are suspected of being implicated in the recent murder of one of their fellow countrymen. When asked their names they made a few marks on paper. Policeman Morgan Mor-gan succeeded in spelling out their names as Joseph Telle and Male Ker-nin. Ker-nin. Tho boxes contained cheap jewelry, jew-elry, and the nieu are presumably peddlers. ped-dlers. At about 8 o'clock this morning these Arabs were found in Bank Alley. The police having previously been notified noti-fied that they were wanted for murder at Vestal, Broome county. Chief Wright at once wired the Sheriffs of Broome ami Cortland counties of the capture of the Arabs. Just before noon the Sheriff of Cortland county reached here, ami from the description given him he concluded that these were the men wanted. Three Arab peddlers had been seen together at Vestal the first part of last week. Suddenly the three disappeared-On disappeared-On Monday some men happened to enter en-ter an abandoned shanty at Vestal, and following up a strong stench they found the body of an Arab, one of the three who had been seen on the streets. The bead was horribly battered, and the body had been crowded under the floor of the shanty. The murder is supposed to have been done last Wednesday. The companions of tho murdered Arab, who are supposed to be the two men now under arrest in this city, could not be. found, and suspicion felfupon them. Yesterday the sheriff of Cortland county learned that they were on their way to Syracuse, and the police here were Dotilied. |
