Show THERE ISNOJIARMONY Dakota Republicans Are Holding a Convention Con-vention In Which There Is But Very Little Peace, IT IS VERY UNPARLIAMENTARY. Nebraska Farmers In Session The Second Day-Courts of the Country The Houeo Committee. Guam. Fokks, N. D., July 2!). Special. Spe-cial. The republican state convention which is in session here is a large enthusiastic en-thusiastic gathering, but not very harmonious. har-monious. The preliminary organization organiza-tion was effected with much difficulty as the lottery and anti-lottery delegates locked horns over the election of a temporary chairman. The former faction fac-tion won the contest and the presiding officer ruled on all contested points in favor of those who elected him, which very much angered tho minority who id their blind rage used language to him which was decidedly unparliamentary. It has been known for sometime that on the opening of the convention the advocates of the lottery and those who oppose it would have a fierce struggle strug-gle for control. The lottery men received the first kuock-out when the state committee refused to fix the date of the convention September 15th. They wanted tho convention held at that late date so that they would know the result of the contest in Louisiana before they met. Jf they possessed this information they could act more intelligently, and if the lottery interests had met with disaster in Louisiana, a desperate effort would bo made to repair re-pair and promote them here. The defeat de-feat ou this point was an unmistakable indication that the majority of the dominant dom-inant party in North Dakota are anti-lottery, anti-lottery, and that they will again render null and void all schemes to transplant the Louisiana lottery here. |
