Show CHICAGO CEI.HintATKS. The City by the Lake Remembers (he Day with Plousure. Chkiaoo, Juno 17, Special. Tho celebration of Bunker Hill day by tho Junior Order U. A. Mechanics was, as had been anticipated, a patriotic demonstration demon-stration of largo proportions. In the morning there was a parade in w hich the' visiting brothers participated. Largo delegations represented Pennsylvania, Penn-sylvania, New York, Ohio and other eastern states. Tho west including Wisconsin, Missouri. Nebraska and Michigan contributed a largo number of visitors. At tho conclusion of the parade a magnificent flag was flung to tho breeze from a liberty polo that had been erected on the lake front. 'The flag in a prettv speech was presented to the city by P. S. C. II. J. Daily. This evening a great meeting will bo held at tho Auditorium, when an address ou the subject of "Our Order" will be delivered de-livered by Kev. W. Covert of Storer, Pa. Mayor Gourley of Allegheny will also on this occasion deliver an address. His subject will bo "Our l'ublic Schools." This address will attract much attention atten-tion as tho public school question is likely to cut something of a figure in politics this fall. |
