On her return, she was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. E. R. Iowenberg, and young son, Terry Gere. Mr. and Mrs. George Austin Ford of Knoxville, Tenn., is visiting visit-ing with his mother, Mrs. Ford Cleverly. This being their first trip west was enjoyed very much. They motored here. He was impressed im-pressed very much by Salt Lake and the Mormon people. Mr. Ford is the assistant editor of the Knoxville Knox-ville Independent and we know he will have some very good things to sav of the Mormon people and the West. George A. Ford, editor of the Knoxville Independent, of Knoxville, Knox-ville, Tenn., wife and baby are here visting with Mr. Ford's mother, Mrs. Fred W. Cleverly. The fa. ther of the editor, George W. Ford is 81 years of age and has been publishing the Independent for 41 years. The junior 5lr. Ford had not seen hjs mother for 16 years. Helen Stringham of Bountiful and Charles Lanier Amott of Salt Lake City took out a marriage license li-cense this week in Salt Lake. The Loma theater opened Tuesday Tues-day night after having been closed a week for remodeling. was in town today. He had just returned re-turned from Star Valley where he had spent a couple of weeks with his son, who has been a government govern-ment forester there, for about twenty year, and visited with his brother, William Harrison and other oth-er relatives and friends. He had a delightful time in the hils where trout abound. He expects to leave for Los Angeles next week where he spends the greater part of his time with his children. While Mr. Harrison cannot see to read yet he says he can see the pictures in picture shows and gets a good deal of enjoyment out of them as well as the radio. He has a number of children living in Los Angeles. Alvin Ford of Centerville was over to see a doctor today to get treatment for an out break of poison ivy. Dave Lawson, who has been down from. Wasatch for about a week, expects to return this week-end. Earl Stacey returned Thursday from quite an extensive visit in the Uintah Basin country. Miss Floraine Evans spent Tuesday Tues-day in Ogdcn visiting with her mother, Mrs. Ida E. Evans. Miss Hanson moved to the city with her mother, Mrs. Margaret Hanson and family about five years ago. John Stacey and wife expect to leave Logan, today for Rexburg where they expert to spend the next couple of months. Mr. Stacey has just completed his special .musical studies in Logan. Edna Wilson who played a guitar gui-tar and sang in a contest with seven others, at a theatre in Salt Lake, Wednesday night was successful suc-cessful in capturing a $12.50 cash prize with every indication that she would also be engaged to sing over the;Tf dio. Miss Norma Ruga of Salt Lake is spending the summer here with her sister, Mrs. Wilkerson. The Misses Helen and Jessie Goal of Wyoming are here visiting with their brother, Earl. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl , - - Oeae of Mt. Emmons, grandson of John Kynaston who died at their home, had to undergo a second op-- ration, at the L. D. S. hospital in " Salt Lake, Tuesday for puss in the I hip. Funeral services were held Sun-day Sun-day afternoon at he Bountiful tabernacle for Joseph Day, under the direction of Bishop Quayle Cannon. Former Governor Charles R. Mabey and Bishop James E. Burns were the speakers. Interment Inter-ment took place in the Bountiful cemetery. Eddie Talbot is down from Barley, Bar-ley, Idaho, visiting relatives and friends. It will be wonderful if the spot of snow in the hollow near the summit on Sessions mountain pan hold out till the 4th of July. The snow bank is getting small. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Parents of the bride and groom were also present. We think we had about the most pectacular display of lightning when the electrical storm was on Wednesday night we have seen in years. A brush fire started, Wednesday in the hills near Dry hollow east of Bountiful but about 1G0 yonng men from the CCC camp put it out - before it had covered much more ttan a quarter section of land. This U land that is now in the VrWtch national forest reserve.
