Show Mary Call of Layton Winner in Contest With 14,294 Students Miss Mary Call of Layton ; ami Miss Anna Seamons of Smithfie d have just been announced as stat champions for Utah in two national contests for high school students. Committees of prominent home economists and artists meeting in Chicago have awarded Miss Call first place in the state in the loth national meat essay contest, and Miss Seamons the state winner in the national meat poster contest. National championship honors in the meat tsory contest went to Ardys Collodi of Madera. California; Califor-nia; the national poster contest award going to Audrey McDaniel of Fort Scott, Kansas. A total of 14,294 students from 520 high schools of 41 states took part in these contests, according to the National Na-tional Live Stock and Meat Board, the sponsor. The title of Miss Call's winning essay was, "Meat The Favorite Food Though The Ages." The winning win-ning poster drawn ti' Miss Chas-tain Chas-tain emphasized the important place of meat in proper nutrition. Judges in the meat contest were as follows: Miss Fiances Swain, di rector of household arts, Chicago public schools; Miss Ellen Pennell, associate editor, Successful Farming, Farm-ing, Des Moines, la.; and Miss Alicv Child, a.-.-uciate professor of home economics.
