Show THE OREGON IDAHO MINE herald salmon idaho general manager A arlington hibbs and dr A F brandt of the oregon idaho gold mining company arrived in salmon from their property at meyers cove after a weeks inspection of the operations work has been going steadily on oil there for more than two years during which time the true blue mine has had a total of over 1000 feet of tunnelling tun nelling and sloping on its vein this work has opened up UD a large body of high grade ore and placed many hundred tons on the dump ready for milling besides this they have driven aa a foot crosscut tunnel 1000 feet below the upper tunnel which will be used as a working adit and enable the company to the thousands of tons of ore from the true blue and tram it to the mill by a gravity system this plan has been wisely adopted as saving thousands of dollars in operating expenses by averting the necessity of hauling ore in wagons and otherwise needlessly handling the product the double compartment shaft now down feet will be dropped feet farther to the mother lode they now have an eighty foot breast of ore on the foot level in this shaft on the monument claim and ores running from 15 to 2000 per ton by the additional feet of depth on the monument claim this claim alone would produce enough ore to require a generation to pass through the fifty ton mill now on the plant it is the present intention of the company to complete the erection of its roasting plant and add many cyanide tanks to its present capacity in that line this course is adopted on the recommendation of the com banys consulting engineer prof amos P brown of the university of pennsylvania Pann sylvania of philadelphia and the new reduction plant will conform to requirements which according e to prof browns most thorough 7 tests will yield nearly ninety per cent of oath the assay value of the ores the oregon idaho company has certai certainly llly gone about its work in a thoroughly busi bush I 1 ness like manner to make money out of the practically unlimited reserves of ore it has ha in its property this mine forty years ago was worked to a very limited extent by means of an old mexican and made mad to pay what may it not he be expected to do when modern methods and careful management are combined in its operation while these people have been securing facts relative to the best possible process of treatment of the mines product they have developed the property to an extent that should no more mining be done for a year to come they still have tons of ore on the dumps ready for treat treatment ent they have now turned their attention to the mill and roaster with the object of having the mill in commission within the next few months they have sent in an abundance of supplies of all kinds sufficient to last till june next they have also contracted for a large amount of wood to be delivered between now and february while a large quantity is already at the works they are also increasing their working force with that keen eye to success from a business point of view which the company is known to have now that they are ready to produce it seems that nothing has been lost sight of which might make for their financial success it is the production of the yellow metal they are now hot after and there is no question about their getting it ft in no small quantities either dr brandt and hibbs left here last sunday morningto morning by ty stage to redrock on their way to oregon where the company has another property containing gold cobalt and copper which they are developing with the same steady but businesslike business like methods as have characterized their operations in lem hi county the company is composed of many men of wealth as well as of integrity men who have made success of their undertakings and by their own efforts have laid the foundations of their present wealth they are just the class of men we want to secure and develop our mineral resources our people are proud to greet such talent as has taken hold of the mines at meyers cove and we wish them the success which they justly deserve and which seems most surely in s tore store for them idaho has no better mines of gold and silver than that which this compa company ny J has undertaken to 0 operate p erate |
